
Audience Research
Conducting our audience research we made a questionnaire asking a wide range of people to answer truthfully their opinions and views of music videos.
Below I have analysed our results from the questionnaire and have concluded how we will make our music video around these useful statistics.

The majority of those who answered our questionnaire were in the age category of 16-25 with 15 people out of 22.
We also asked for the gender of the participants and we found 9/22 were Male and 13 were Female.
This data helps us to promote and release our music video. 100% of those who answered our questionnaire said they watch music videos on YouTube, therefore we should release/ advertise our music video on YouTube.
"For which genres of music do you usually watch music videos?"

The results to the question above resulted in the younger participants watching music videos from pop/ chart music whereas the slightly older people (20 year old) prefer electronic music, however Indie-Rock was a popular genre from all age groups.
What is your favorite music video and why?
The responses were very useful as we as a group were able to analyse these music videos and use some professional elements into our own production.
"Wake me up when September ends - Green Day. Mainly because of the storyline feature, I recall it being a huge hit when it got released. Very emotional music video and tugs at your heart strings!"
"This is gospel - P!ATD. Well, close up of Brendon Urie. And also the choreography/cinematography."
"Thriller by Michael Jackson. I love the plot and the idea of the plot being part of the film being watched at the beginning of the video. There is some great choreography and costumes too."
"The Offspring's Hit That. I just like the cartoony-style it has."
"I have never thought about this before, it is a very difficult question to answer without lots of thought. therefore I will suggest that Wood Kid's Videos (Iron, Run Boy Run etc.) are current favourites, they look very impressive and I enjoy identifying the links between each of them."
"30 Seconds to Mars - Hurricane.............30 Seconds to Mars tell a short story that works perfectly!"
"Reflektor; strong link between audio and visual elements, very original, intriguing mise-en-scène, strange dancing, interesting narrative.

"DMA's - feels like 37, random things going on in it, some blurred and some clear, normal settings so its relatable."
Which element of music video do you prefer?

This data shows that more than 50% of people prefer the artistic side in a music video, however a quarter of people prefer performance and another quarter prefer the narratve, therefore we will implement all 3 types within our music video.
"What themes do you enjoy in music videos?"
The data shows that the majority prefer rebellion, mental health, fantasy and themes that reflect the nature of the song. 1 of the responses said, "I don't like relationship or love or sex because that's all artists seem to include nowadays". Therefore we will aim to discard the relationship theme within our music video.
