Come Into My World - Kylie Minogue

The Music Video to 'Come Into My World' has 1 main character (Kylie Minogue) who is walking around the suburban streets on Boulogne-Billancourt in Paris (France). Each time Kylie walks back around to the point where she originally walks out of the dry cleaners shop another 'clone' joins onto her path and over time there are multiple 'Kylies' - as you can see below.

Not only Kylie has multiple clones throughout the music video, but the extras/ background actors are subtly duplicated as well in order to give the location/ area a maical/ fantastical representation (Her World.)

'Come Into My World' is 1 extremely long shot, moving around a intersection in the suburban streets in Paris, France. The movement of the camera is the same each time it moves around the intersection, so we can tell that the camera is on tracks to make the camera tracking as smooth as possible. The effect of repeatedly moving around an intersection is for Kylie to give the audience a 'tour' of her world, and the repeated movement around the intersection links with the duplication of Kylie and the background actors throughout the music video. As you can see in the two screenshots below at the beginning of the music video there is only 1 man putting up a poster saying 'ensemble' and later on in the music video there are 3 men putting up the same poster. The poster says 'ensemble' is a term which is used in film production meaning a large cast, and this is relevant to this music video as there is a large cast of "Kylie's" and background actors.

Throughout the music video the set is high-key lit giving the location a positive feeling, enticing the audience to come into her 'fantastical' and 'optimistic' world. The natural lighting gives "Kylie's World" a sense of realism, in contrast to other 'fantastical' features throughout this music video such as duplication of characters etc.

During the music video we immediately realise that characters are duplicating each time the camera completes a circuit, however each circuit the camera movement changes slightly. The screenshots above show the first circuit (left) is a long shot of Kylie crossing the zebra crossing, the 2nd circuit (middle) is a medium, low angle shot of her walking across the zebra crossing and for the final circuit (right) there are multiple kylies which again is a medium, low angle shot of her. The change of camera position/ movement makes the audience pay more attention towards to increased number of 'Kylies' therefore making her world seem 'fantastical' and 'perfect'. Everything about this music video is to emphasis about her world, and the difference between her lifestyle to others, yet she is welcoming people into her 'ideal' world.
