Inspirational Shots

The music video 'Dreaming' by Smallpools includes multiple creative shots such as the one above. As we can see an environmental transition as he falls from the fence onto the sofa at a party. At the beginning the shot is handhalf (has a little sway) to enhance the thought that he is running away from the party, however he is stopped by falling over the fence back to the party. This is signficant to the name of the song 'Dreaming', due to a falling sensation when you are asleep (Hypnic Jerk). As you drift off to sleep sometimes your heart starts to slow down making your brain feel as though you are dying, therefore your body has a physical jerk in order to 'wake' yourself up. Hypnic Jerk is reflected in this music video by falling from the fence into a different location. This shot inspires me because of the creative editing effect and reasoning behind it.

The music video produced by Jamiroquai called 'Virtual Insanity' is about a world in a little room where 'craz' things occur, such as moving floor, bleeding cockroaches and a crow. The reason I find this shot so inspirational is because of the movement of the actor/ room. When I originally watched this music video I thought that the room was on a moving floor, however once I researched the music video I found out that the cardboard room was moved around an empty hall - giving the effect that the floor was moving. I loved this music video because of the creativity of it and how unique it is compared to the majority of music videos.

Katy Perry's song 'Roar' was an extremely successful song being top in the charts in 22 different countries after the first week of its release. The reason that I love this music video so much is due to the visual effects used within it, such as the shot above. The use of particles are originally represented as fireflies and then they are merge together in order to form the image of a 'tiger' in sync with the lyric 'ROAR'. The effect of the the fireflies merging together represents Katy Perry being apart of the jungle, which positively reinforces the lyrics of the song.
