EMI Music

EMI was founded in 1931 and was known as the Electric and Music Industries and is one of the biggest companies in the UK (based in London)

 

EMI Music is one of the world's largest music companies as they work with artists all over the world. Some record labels include:

  • Angel

  • Blue Note

  • Capitol

  • Parlophone

  • Virgin Records

They have also worked with many succesful artists such as Lily Allen, The Beatles, Coldplay, Gorillaz, David Guetta, Kylie Minogue etc. 

 

EMI Music proves a global menu of commercial services which includes digital distribution, sales, marketing, licensing, live recordings and merchandising.

Sony Music

Sony Music is a global recording company that has a huge success locally and globally with Artists such as Jimi Hendrix, The Fray and One Direction. 

 

Sony Music is now owned by Sony Corporation of America since 2004 and the company's HQ is in New York City, USA. 

Sony Music works with many record labels such as Epic Records, Roc Nation and Columbia Records.

 

Sony Music tends to create music from the genres of Hip-Hop, Country, Classical, Gospel, Pop and Rock.

Sony Music has recently worked with Avril Lavigne, Beyonce, Britney Spears, Chris Brown, Foo Fighters, Foster The People, Glee, Pitbull, Shakira, Willow Smith and many more.

Warner Music Group

Warner Music Group was founded in 1958 and was originally known as Warner Bros Records which was then sold to Seven Arts Productions in 1967. The company was becoming very successful and so change their name to WEA Corp (Warner Bros, Elektra and Atlantic). 

 

After many years of success the company decided to become an independant music group and changed its name to as we know it today 'Warner Music Group' and built the headquarters in New York City, USA.

 

Warner Music Group have worked with many famous and successful artists such as James Blunt, Paramore, Plan B, Bruno Mars etc.

Universal Music Group

Universal Music Group was founded in 1934 as DECCA Records USA which was the world's largest music company at the time. In 1990, the company changed to a Music Entertainment Group, 6 months later it changed to UMG, as we know it today. 

 

UMG develops artists and songwriters to market and promote their music through a variety of different ways such as YouTube, iTunes, television, billboards, radio etc. 

 

Universal Music Group have worked with many successful artists such as Rihanna, Snow Patrol, The Who , Akon, Justin Bieber, Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Adele and many more.

 

UMG's Headquarters is located in New York City, USA along with WMG and Sony Music.

Kitsuné

Kitsuné is a French electronic music record label which was formed in 2002 by Gildas Loaëc.

 

The name 'Kitsuné' comes from the Japanese word 'fox' which is why the logo of their company is of a small fox and it apparently has the power to change its appearance and its face. This co-insides with the change in appearance of the companies record labels.

 

Kitsuné have worked with many successful artists such as Two Door Cinema Club, Crystal Fighters, Dieter Schmidt and Guns 'b' Bombs.
