Song Choices
Skinny Love ~ Birdy
This song was highlighted as a possible song choice as the lyrics are fairly easy to interpret and understand the true meaning behind it. After watching the music video we noted that it would be very difficult for us to produce a professional looking music video with this song as we would need a female actress who is confident to mime making it look realistic. Therefore due to the difficulties we decided not to use this song choice.
Settle ~ Two Door Cinema Club
This song choice was the groups overall favorite as the lyrics can create an interesting storyline and the tempo of the song changes throughout, therefore we can experiment with a variety of different shots.
There are some drawbacks such as the long instrumentals at the beginning and inbetween verses/ choruses, however to overcome these we could use establishment shots/ slow shots to emphasise time passing.
MGMT ~ Electric Feel
'Electric Feel' has a good beat/ tempo throught the song allowing us to be creative to show off our editing techniques using screen shakes and light flashes and synchronous edit cuts. There isn't a straight forward narrative to this song therefore we can be creative as a group with the narrative.
The main downside to this song choice is that the lip syncing could be difficult as the original version of the song has a fairly high pitch therefore we may struggle to make the sycning of the lips look professional.
Pumped Up Kicks ~ Foster The People
All of the group were positive about this original song choice as the lyrics have a lot of meaning and has an easy storyline to follow. The beat of the song is catchy and easy to edit to as the tempo isn't too fast therefore we can have professional appearing synchronus edit cuts.
The meaning of this song is about a primary school shooting which isn't a positive image and could be very difficult for us to create a music video about this as finding the right props and locations would be a challenge (a gun and a primary school). Many primary schools wouldn't condone this.
